Identifying Key Design Challenges
My redesign of the AcadeME platform tackled several major UX challenges that affected its effectiveness and user experience. My analysis, based on the current interface, pointed to the following issues:
Dated and inconsistent UI: The interface features an outdated design with mismatched layouts and a mix of visual styles, including varying button designs and non-standardized use of colors.
Poor Information Hierarchy: The layout and presentation of information were not optimized for clarity. For instance, job details were difficult to scan, and important details did not stand out effectively, which made the user's search process less efficient.
Inefficient Search and Navigation: The search and navigation tools lacked visibility and intuitiveness. The main feature was a "Search for a job" button, but the overall layout didn't make it easy for users to find and apply for relevant positions.
Visual Clutter and Low Usability: The page was visually overwhelming, with many competing elements that made it difficult to focus. The overall user experience felt bulky, and the high visual noise likely impacted user engagement and quick decision-making.

The Design Process
AcadeME: The Smarter Way to Connect Talent with Opportunity
AcadeME is a sophisticated platform that connects employers and students effectively. It helps companies find the ideal candidate for their specific needs, saving valuable time and money by increasing the chances that the hire will remain long-term.
From the student’s perspective, the system offers a powerful tool to navigate the job market. It enables them to filter out unsuitable jobs, research companies thoroughly, and communicate directly with potential employers on the platform. This provides a comprehensive and personalized job search experience from a large database of high-quality career opportunities.
Competitor Research: I started by examining similar platforms in Israel and internationally. I signed up for their services, examined their workflows, and took screenshots of their interfaces to guide my design approach.
Collaborative Brainstorming: I led brainstorming sessions with AcadME's CEO. Drawing on his extensive experience with registered students and employers, along with the feedback he received, we jointly decided what information to retain, what to eliminate, and how to reduce the system's significant clutter.
New Feature Development: We have chosen to introduce several innovative features to improve the user experience:
- For students: The homepage now features an engaging, animated display of job match percentages. We also created a dedicated dashboard to show important notifications, career tips, and relevant job listings.
- For employers: I created a detailed company profile page where they can display their brand in an engaging and current manner by entering the most relevant information for them.
registration process: A key focus of the project was the registration flow, which we designed to be intuitive and engaging. We broke down the process into simple, easy-to-follow steps, with progress-tracking microcopy to motivate users to finish. This not only made the process shorter but also created a more welcoming and user-friendly experience from the very first interaction.
Our main goal was to turn the platform into a top choice for students, employers, and universities. We aimed to make the system highly efficient and engaging, ensuring it would stand out in the competitive job placement market by providing a superior and easy-to-use experience.
