MedHub-AI develops deep learning video analysis algorithms to provide physicians with accurate diagnostic insights and practical guidance, seamlessly integrating into existing medical systems.

The system was challenging and cumbersome to use, suffering from outdated design, accessibility issues, and a lack of clear organization.

I led comprehensive redesign and UX research to develop a modern, intuitive interface that streamlines workflows for cardiologists and other physicians. My focus was on improving usability, increasing accessibility, and establishing a logical, consistent design to make decision-making easier.

Identifying Key Design Challenges

When I began my work on the MedHub-AI platform, the system faced significant usability and design issues that hindered its potential. My analysis identified the following key problems:

Usability & Workflow: The system's cumbersome workflow was a major obstacle. The video display, positioned on the right side of the screen, required users to switch between "stenosis" and "framehub" tabs, which consumed valuable time and complicated the user experience for both physicians and technicians. Given the life-saving nature of the procedure, usability was of paramount importance.

Poor Information Hierarchy & Consistency: The interface lacked clear hierarchy and visual consistency. Buttons varied in color and size without a logical system, making them difficult to understand and use. A poorly designed, non-accessible arrow next to the main video further added to the confusion.

Outdated & Inconsistent Design: The overall design was outdated and failed to reflect the cutting-edge technology behind the platform. This created a disconnect between the system's innovative capabilities and its visual identity. The client's core requirement was to modernize the design to match the system's position at the forefront of medical technology.

Accessibility Issues: The system suffered from a general lack of accessibility and an unclear color scheme, which compromised the user experience and could potentially impact clinical efficiency.

THE DESIGN PROCESS

MedHub-AI is a unique system, set apart from competitors by two key factors: its unmatched accuracy and the rapid speed at which it delivers results. The system has already succeeded in over 10 hospitals in Japan and is about to expand to another 10 in the upcoming months.

The company faced a crucial decision: after receiving the coveted approval from the Japanese Ministry of Health and with a major conference in Japan approaching where the system would be presented, it made the strategic choice to entirely redesign and improve the system, upgrading both the UX and the UI.

The first step in the system's major overhaul was to immerse myself in the field. I participated in focused workdays at the two hospitals in Israel where the system is installed. This enabled me to observe the system in real-time and directly interact with doctors and technicians to obtain authentic, first-hand feedback.

After collecting feedback from the hospitals, I led brainstorming sessions with the company's CEOs and key subject-matter experts. We also included notes and feedback from our users in Japan to guide our creative process.

Following our meeting, I created three wireframes for the main page and gathered a collection of design inspirations from advanced systems. After a follow-up meeting, we selected a final design direction, and I started the full implementation.

Despite tight deadlines and immense pressure to finish before the conference, I had full support from the CEOs to not compromise on quality. We successfully launched a system that not only works flawlessly but also looks outstanding.

The conference was a huge success! the MedHub-AI booth had a constant line of professionals eager to try the system, leading to many requests from Japanese hospitals for immediate implementation. The event also provided invaluable feedback from a wide range of professionals, which we continue to use for ongoing improvements. We are dedicated to constantly refining the system to maintain the highest standards and stay at the forefront of technology.
